黄河是中国的一个象征，后人把黄帝奉为中华民族的祖先，在黄帝出世地河南省新郑市有黄帝宫，在陕西省黄陵县有黄帝陵，世界各地的炎黄子孙，都把黄河流域认作中华民族的摇篮，称黄河为“母亲河”，为“四渎之宗”，视黄土地为自己的“根”。

现在黄河面临断流的问题。1997年断流226天。与此同时，黄河入海水量不断裁减，1990～1994年，年平均入海量只有184亿立方米，相当于80年头年平均入海量286亿立方米的64%、70年()代年平均入海量371亿立方米的59%、60年头年平均入海量492亿立方米的47%。一些专家预料，假设以5年时间为单元计算，到2000年黄河下游将展现年年断流现象，到2022年黄河下游将会展现全年枯竭，黄河由此将成为一条内陆河。造成这一切问题主要源于自然因素和社会因素。所以要从改善自然环境入手，首先应在黄河两岸种上一些存活率高的树木和植物！经常放射人工降雨弹，使黄河旁的树可以保持水土的水份。看看以前，古代黄河两岸就是由于有茂密的原始森林，可以起到固土防沙的成果，所以我认为，只要能让树植物存活，就能把黄河两岸的泥沙管住，让母亲之河长存。
