thatwassenttoChinatoprovidemedicalassistanceduringtheChinesepeople'sWar

ofResistanceAgainstJapaneseAggression(1931-1945).Basu,asacolleagueof

DwarkanathKotnis(widelyknownasKeDihuainChina)andatorchbearerofthe

Indianmedicalmission,stayedinChinafrom1938to1943,andlaterworkedfor43

yearsinIndiauntilhisdeathin1986.From1958to1959,BasustayedinChinato

learnacupuncturebeforeintroducingtheneedletechniquesinIndia.In1973,Basu

wasinvitedtoChinatolearnnewlydevelopedacupunctureanesthesia(麻醉).

Fromtheverybeginning,Basutriedtospreadacupuncturetodoctorsbyfree

teachingtobroadmassesofpeople.Basu,whoestablishedtheDr.DwarkanathKotnis

MemorialCommitteeandtheAcupunctureAssociationofIndia,donatedhishouse

andsavingstothegovernmentofWestBengalstatefbrthepurposeofacupuncture
