"Whilethingslikework,familylifeandfriendsplayabiggerroleinoverallreportsof

well-being,theaccumulation(积累)oftravelexperiences'doesappeartohaveasmallyet

noticeableeffectonself-reportedlifesatisfaction,"Chensaid.

Participantsinthestudywereaskedabouttheimportanceoftravelintheirlives,how

muchtimetheyspentlookingintoandplanningfuturevacations,andhowmanytripsthey

wentonoverayear.Theywerealsoaskedabouttheirlifesatisfaction.Outofthe500survey

participants,alittleoverhalfreportedgoingonmorethanfourpleasuretripsayear.Only7%of

respondentsdidnottakeanyvacations.

Astravelrestrictions(限制)duetoCOVID-19pandemicbegintorelaxinthefuture,

theresearchcouldhaveimportanteffectsonbothtouristsandthetourismindustry.Basedon

theresultsofthestudy,Chensaidtravelcompanies,resortsandevenairlines,couldlaunch

socialmediacampaigns,suchascreatingsignsaboutthescientificbenefitsofvacation,to

sparkpeople'sinterestindiscussingtheiropinionsabouttravel.
