My favourite hobby is playing chess. 1) play后面接表示体育运动的词时, 不与the连用。例如: The boys are playing football on the pla
11、yground. My sister likes playing table tennis very much.2) play后接表示乐器的名词时, 与the连用。例如:playthepiano弹钢琴playtheviolin拉提琴playtheguitar弹吉他3. They are from Beijing. be from = come from 来自Their English teacher is from Canada.(=Their English teacher comes from Canada.)4. My parents own a Chinese restaurant i
12、n Newcastle. own可作及物动词, 意为“拥有”, own也可作形容词, 意为“自己的”。例如: Miss Guo is only 20 years old, but she owns a big company. 郭小姐虽然只有20岁,但是已拥有一间大公司。5. I drove my own car here. 我开我自己的车过来的。此外, on ones own是个固定短语,意为“依靠自己, 独自”。own 加后缀“-er”构成owner, 变为名词, 意为“物主,拥有者”。例如:Please try to do everything well on your own.请你们尽
13、量独自做好每一件事。Alice is the owner of the house. 爱莉丝是这所房子的主人。5. He works as an architect in London. 他在伦敦当一名建筑师。几个例句: My father works as a bus driver. =My father is a bus driver. 我父亲是一位公共汽车司机。 My mother works as an English teacher. = My mother is an English teacher. 我母亲是一位英语老师。 6. The teachers are very fri
14、endly. 老师们非常友好。 friendly作形容词, 意为“友好的, 友善的”, 可作表语或定语, 表示“对某人友好”时, 通常用be friendly to sb.。7. I am keen on sports. 我非常喜欢体育。 be keen on意为“喜欢,热衷于”, 其后通常接名词或v-ing 形式。be keen on与love, like, enjoy 等词意思相近, 有时可互换。8. I want to be an engineer. want to do sth. 想要做某事 I want to buy a new dictionary for my brother.

May, please write to me soon and tell me all about yourself. 1) tell sb. about sth. 意为“向某人讲述的情况”相关短语: tell sb. sth. 意为“告诉某人某事 ”Homework: finish exercise in workbook.
