17、 different groups of English settlers came to the New World looking for freedom:,1. Pilgrims - Group of English Protestant Christians who believed in Jesus Christ, not the Catholic Church. Were persecuted(迫害) for their faith and treated very badly. Moved to the New World for religious freedom and li

18、ved in Massachusetts.,In 1620, the Pilgrims sailed the Mayflower and landed in what they would name Plymouth, Massachusetts.,The Pilgrims held the first Thanksgiving which is now a major American holiday.,Second group to settle the New World was:,2. 19、o wanted to purify the Catholic Church. They were very strict followers of Jesus Christ and the Bible. Believed in working hard, getting educated, and being free.
