Teaching ProceduresStep 1 Warming up1. self-introduction.Show a picture of myself. Say hello to the student. Then show Ss some numbers to let the students guess what the meaning is. “4”, “24”, 1982”. Lead in the key sentence “I was born in .2. Pairwork.Let the students work in pairs to practice the key sentence.Step 2 Listening.1. (T: Well done. Many Ss in our class like sports and music. So do I. They are all my favirite stars. Do you like they? )Show photos of Deng Yaping, David Beckham, Matina Hingis, Micheal Jordan and ask “Whos that?”, and “When was he born”. Next ask Ss “Do you know when they were born?”. Then turn to page 53, listen to the tape and write down the year. 2. Check the answer.Step 3 Speaking1. After that, show some photos of other famous people on the screen and ask some pairs of Ss to make dialogues one by one.A: Whos that?B: Thats_. He is _.A: When was he born?B: He was born in _2. Pairwork.Let Ss work in pairs and then ask some pairs of Ss to make dialogues.Step 4 Pairwork1. Lead in the key sentences “when did start doing sth? How long did do it?” by talking about “Michael Jordan”, “Deng Yaping”. Lead in the new words “unusual, talented, creative, outstanding”.2. Ask Ss to pactice the key sentences in pairs.Step 5 Groupwork: Make a survey.T: They are all famous stars in the world and they are so popular. Do you like them? Ok, who is popular in our class? Who is good at basketball/football? 1. Ask Ss to work in groups of four. Each group choose a reporter. Group members ask each others about when started doing these things ( learned to ride a bike, started learning English, started going to school, learned to write, and so on.) T: Well done. Lets make a survey. Id like you to work in groups of four, and each group chooses a reporter.
