Try the next example.“Peter Piper picked a peck of picked peppers, Did Peter Piper pick a peck of picked peppers? If Peter Piper picked a peck of picked peppers, wheres the peck of picked peppers Peter picked?”Tongue twisters usually do not have much meaning. They are just designed to improve peoplesability(能力)to pronounce words. Although they may be very difficult, these exercises are very important to people who are trying to speak English correctly. This is because tongue twisters help people to tell the differences between similar sounds. So if you wish to pronounce words more smoothly, youd better try picking out some tongue twisters and practicing them.26 . At least, it is so in most markets and back-street clothes shops. Bargaining is an art and if you are unfamiliar (不熟悉) with it, wed like to offer you some advice. The tips here are often used in Beijing but may help you at any place in the world where bargaining is practiced.DO NOT say how much you want to pay for an item (物品) unless its near the end of the bargaining. Always try and drop the sellers offering price as much as possible before opening your mouth with a price. DO throw out really low prices like 10 RMB with a big smile. DO keep smiling from the beginning to the end. The seller usually continues bargaining with a happy smiling face. Getting angry hardly gets you the price you want. Keep in mind the price offered by the seller at the beginning is usually at least 40% over the generally reasonable (合理的) price. It can be up to 500% over.DO have an idea of what the item costs. You can ask your friends, people in the hotel or others you know, or look at the list below. This is very general and is based (根据) on a market like Xiu Shui. Many experts have tried to make English easier for students to learn- but they werent always successful. In 1930, Professor CK Ogden of Cambridge University invented Basic English. It had only 850 words(and just eighteen verbs) and Ogden said most people could learn it in just thirty hours. The problem was that people who learned Basic English could write and say simple messages, but they couldnt understand the answers in real English! It was also impossible to explain a word if it wasnt in the Basic English word list. For example, if you wanted a watermelon, you asked for a large green fruit with the form of an egg, which has a sweet red inside and a good taste! R.E. Zachrisson, a university professor in Sweden, decided that the biggest problem for learners of English was spelling, so he invented a language called Anglic. Anglic was similar to English, but with much simpler spelling. Father became faadher, new became nue and years became yeerz. Unfortunately for some students of English, Anglic never became popular. Even easier is the language which ships captains use: its called Seaspeak. Seaspeak uses a few simple phrases for every possible situation. In Seaspeak, for example, you dont say, Im sorry what did you say? or I didnt understand, can y
