Nationwide,165billiondollars'worthoffoodiswastedeachyear,accordingtotheNationalResourcesDefenseCouncil.SpokesmanBobKeefesaysthatisabout40%ofthecountry'sentirefoodproduction.Ifwecanreduceourwasteinthiscountryby15%,wecanfeed25millionhungryAmericans.Thatisahugebenefit.ThatiswhatprogramsliketheFoodRecoveryNetworkaredoing.hesaid.
ChristianLifeCenterisoneofthebeneficiaries(受益者)ofthestudents'efforts.BenSlye,theseniorpastor,said,Ithasbeenjustamazingtoseethesestudentstaketheirowntime,theirownvehiclesandgasmoneyandbeabletomakeaneffortlikethis.Eachweekweareablewiththisfoodprobablytofeedoverahundredpeople.
