摘要 隐喻作为认知手段，它的认知作用直到2 0 世纪8 0 年代才受到语言学家的认可和 重视。l a k o f f 和j o h n s o n 指出，隐喻是人们用清楚的、具体的经验建构复杂的、抽象 的概念的过程。人类在总结自己的经验时，往往以比较熟悉的概念描述和理解比较陌 生的事物，从而认识人类自身及其周围的世界。实质上，隐喻是一个认知域映射到另 一个认知域的过程。认知投射是个复杂的过程。抽象、难懂的概念同样可以被用作理 解过程中的源域概念。尽管认知以人的经验为基础并反映人对其经验的理解，部分深 深植根于人的认识中与宗教信仰有关的概念可以被用作源域概念，这反映出认知的复 杂性以及宗教信仰在人的认识中的基础性地位。 当代隐喻认知研究除了隐喻认知的本质特征、隐喻认知的形成机制和工作机制等 方面外，还面临着一个重大课题。首先，应该对英语以外的语言的隐喻系统做大量的 基础研究，以求证明不仅在英语中，而且在其他语言中，抽象思维都是部分通过隐喻 来实现的。其次，是有关隐喻概念系统的普遍性和相对性的问题。一方面，人类的认 知活动植根于日常的身体体验，而不同民族的身体体验却是相同的，因此有理由假设 普遍性的隐喻概念的存在；另一方面，由于身体体验不能独立于特定的文化和社会之 外，我们也有理由推论在不同文化的隐喻概念系统中应该存在差异。然而，不同的语 言、文化究竟在多大程度上表现出隐喻概念系统的异和同，却是有待通过扎扎实实的 对比研究来回答的问题。正如吕叔湘先生所说的：“指明事物的异同所在不难，追究 它们何以有此异同就不那么容易了。而这恰恰是对比研究的最终目的 。 本论文从认知语言学的角度对英汉两种日常语言中与人类生活密切相关的人体、 空间方面的隐喻进行系统的对比研究。从语言世界观、隐喻认知的普遍性、系统性以 及文化的一致性方面阐述英汉隐喻认知对比。在对英汉人体隐喻认知的对比分析中， 本文发现英汉人体隐喻化认知是大同小异的，基本上是一种结构功能模式。但由于两 种语言文化的不同，英汉两种语言在人体隐喻化认知方面并不是完全对应的。在对英 汉空间隐喻化认知的对比分析中，本文以s h a n g x i a 和u p d o w n 的隐喻拓展为 例，研究发现在此方面英汉两种语言存在高度的相似性而最大的差异存在于时间域。 本研究进一步验证了认知语言学的部分核心观点，即语言使用过程中涉及的投射 是从具体、简单概念向抽象、复杂概念的投射。语言使用受人类经验的影响很大。人 们所熟悉的具体范畴概念常被用作源域概念来理解目标域概念。源域概念的使用及其 意义取决于人的经验。同时，在英汉两种语言中，尽管两种文化不同，英汉人体隐喻 化认知虽然不完全对应，但基本上是一种结构模式，而在空间隐喻化认知方面，英汉 两种语言尽管存在高度的相似性，但在时间域存在很大差异。 本研究对外语教学以及文化教学都有重要启示。隐喻中的源域概念反映影响语言 使用的文化因素。因此，相关文化知识的传授能够帮助语言学习者克服学习过程中由 于文化差异造成的困难，进而更好地理解语言。本研究还对文化教学有重要启示。论
