Onthatday,Aron'sarmwascaughtundera360kilorockthatfellonhimwhenhewasclimbingbyhimselfinthemountains.Becausehecouldnotfreehisarm,hestayedtherefor5daysandhopedthatsomeonewouldfindhim.Butwhenhiswaterranout,heknewthathewouldhavetodosomethingtosavehisownlife.Hewasnotreadytodiethatday.Soheusedhisknifetocutoffhalfhisrightarm.Thenwithhisleftarm,hebandagedhimselfsothathewouldnotlosetoomuchblood.Afterthatheclimbeddownthemountaintofindhelp.

Afterlosinghisarm,hewroteabookcalledbetweenarockandahardplace.Thismeansbeinginadifficultsituationthatyoucannotseemtogetoutof.Inthisbook,Arontellsustheimportanceofmakinggooddecisionsandofbeingincontrolofone'slife.Hisloveformountainclimbingissogreatthathekeptonclimbingmountainsevenafterthisexperience.
