Fundamentaltoourapproachtointerculturalcommunicationisbeliefthatall

formsofhumancommunicationinvolveaction.Putinslightlydifferentterms,

communicationisanactivitythataffectsusandotherpeople.Whetherweare

generatingasreceivingwordsormovements,wearecreatingandproducingaction.

hazardsofstudyinginterculturalcommunicationareovergeneralizingandforgetting

howcomplexthenatureofhumanbehavioris.

1Whyisitimportanttoincludeunintentionalityinadefeinitionofintercultural

communicatioii.

Communicationoccurswhenevermeaningisattributedtobehaviorastheresidueof

behavior.Behaviorcanbeintentionalorunintentional.Whenonepersondeliberately

attemptstoconveymeaningtoanother,heintentionallysendsmessagetochangeor
