Theirfindingsshowhowfatherscansupporttheirteenagersinwaysthatresultingreateroptimism,self-
confidence,and,ultimately,higherachievementatschool.
Thesepositiveeffectsextendtobothsonsanddaughters,whileindifferentways.Expcricncingtheirfather's
warmthfirstinfluencesdaughters'senseofoptimism,andthenspillsoverintotheirfeelingmoredeterminedand
